Project Management Certificate Program Now Being Offered at University of Wisconsin-Superior
The Wisconsin Small Business Development Center in conjunction with the University of Wisconsin Superior and Successful Projects recently launched a certificate program for people who are interested in expanding their knowledge and skills in project management. “New participants may contact us now and start the program at any time.”, says Andy Donahue, who was instrumental in bringing the program into the University. “This Project Management Certificate is a blended program providing online learning with a personable component. The program includes scheduled individual instructor sessions that provide a personal coaching relationship with a credentialed and experienced instructor. As we were developing certificates in our continuing education program we were attracted to the individualized guidance that the instructors brought to this program.”
There are three program track options: 1) The Fundamentals of Project Management, 2) PMP® Exam Preparation, and 3) Advanced Topics in Project Management. Participants choose their 56-hour track and six-session dates – which may start at any time and take up to a maximum of one year to complete.
Program instructors provide individualized coaching, oversight, and regular feedback on the participant’s assignments, online progress, and their personal concerns including how this knowledge will be used in the participants current or desired field of practice. The instructors reinforce a disciplined program approach that is reflective of behaviors that lead to success in project management, including the rigorous use of time reporting based learning logs.
The Frank P. Saladis Certificate in Project Management program is unique in the fact it allows the participant to choose the instructor they will work with during the program. “Industry alignment between the program participant and the instructor is one of the many strengths of this our program,” says Renee Adair, Program Director. “In this program, people who want to manage projects in a specific industry will not have to work with instructors who come from an entirely different field. We have instructors from IT, construction, healthcare, manufacturing, marketing, education, banking, service, oil and gas and other areas.”
